St-Louis
Rams
|
Ndamukong Suh - DT - Nebraska
6-4,
300 pounds
|
| With Spagnuolo at the helm, the Rams will certainly go defense. Ndamukong Suh is the best player in this draft and, as Peter King said, is probably the best defensive player that came out of college this decade. A sure fire number one pick that will anchor the Rams line for years to come. As for the QB position, there is enough talent for the Rams to wait for their 2nd round pick. |
| 2. |
Detroit
Lions
|
Gerald McCoy - DT - Oklahoma
6-4,
297 pounds
|
| Two picks, two defensive tackles. McCoy is a great player, with size, speed and strength, will help in the run defense and keep linemans off the linebackers. |
| 3. |
Tampa
Bay Buccaneers
|
Eric Berry - S - Tennessee
5-11,
203 pounds
|
| Tampa was a great defense when John Lynch was playing there. Since him, no other player has been great at the safety position. That will change with Eric Berry. He is the best athlete at his position and one of the best safeties to come out of college in the last decade. |
| 4. |
Washington
Redskins
|
Sam Bradford - QB - Oklahoma
6-4,
223 pounds
|
| With Mike Shanahan at the helm, I don't see Jason Campbell staying with the Redskins next year. Shanahan will love to have Bradford behind center from day one to teach him his offense and bring some new blood to an offense that was terrible last year. They will probably go O-Line with their second round pick. |
| 5. |
Kansas
City Chiefs |
Russell Okung - OT - Oklahoma State
6-5,
300 pounds
|
| The Chiefs have had problems on the O-Line in the last few years. Picking Okung would be the first step to get the unit back into form and keep Matt Cassell on his feets. |
| 6. |
Seattle
Seahawks
|
Jimmy Clausen - QB - Notre-Dame
6-3,
223 pounds
|
| With Hasselback aging and being injured a lot, Clausen would be a nice insure policy to have for the next years and he would have time to develop into the starting QB. He is a big guy with great mechanics who showed grit, resilience and toughness during his ND years. |
| 7. |
Cleveland
Browns
|
Joe Haden - CB - Florida
5-11,
190 pounds
|
| All right, so the Browns have a lot of holes to fill but where to go with the 7th pick? I had a receiver in my previous mocks but I have to admit, Cleveland really needs defensive players. Seeing what young CBs are doing around the league (Darrelle Revis anyone?), why not go with Joe Haden, the best pure corner of the draft? He is a great athlete who loves the pressure of being one on one and if brought up right, could be dominant in a couple of years. |
| 8. |
Oakland Raiders
|
Trent Williams - OT - Oklahoma
6-5,
318 pounds
|
The Raiders defense showed signs of improvements late in the season. I see Al Davis looking for some offensive help in this draft and Trent Williams would be a great addition to an offensive line that was weak at best last year. He is a big guy with fast feet that will help protect whoever is behind center. |
| 9. |
Buffalo
Bills |
Bryan Bulaga - OT - Iowa
6-6,
312 pounds
|
| Bulaga is skyrocketting up draft boards with his marvelous year in Iowa. Since Jason Peters has left, the Bills are searching for the left tackle of the future and Bulaga just might be that guy. He's got long arms, quick feets and is a fericious blocker. |
| 10. |
Jacksonville
Jaguars |
Carlos Dunlap - DE - Florida
6-6,
290 pounds
|
| Dunlap had some troubles at the end of the season but I think he is the best DE prospect of the draft. He has incredible physical tools and reminds me a lot of the freak, Javon Kearse. |
| 11. |
Denver
Broncos (from Chicago)
|
Rolando McClain - LB - Alabama
6-4,
258 pounds
|
McClain is a freak of nature and he would bring instant playmaking habilities to the linebacking corp of the Broncos. He is big, fast, strong, as a very high football IQ and he is a natural leader. Having been coached by Nick Saban will also help him make the transition to the pros easily. |
| 12. |
Miami
Dolphins
|
Dez Bryant - WR - Oklahoma State
6-2,
220 pounds
|
The Dolphins don't have that dominant WR to open up a game. Tedd Ginn is a great punt returner but still hasn't developed into that dominant receiver. Bryant is that kind of guy, with great hands and size. He would give another big target to Chad Henne and open up a bit more the running game. |
| 13. |
San
Francisco 49ers |
Anthony Davis - OT - Rutgers
6-6,
325 pounds
|
The 49ers defense is good and it is now time to stabilize the offense. The first step is to get that franchise left tackle to protect the QB and give him time to make his reads. Anthony Davis is a huge guy but who also has quick feet and he would be a good first step to reach that objective. |
| 14. |
Seattle
Seahawks (from Denver)
|
Jonathan Dwyer - RB - Georgia Tech
6-01,
235 pounds
|
| The Seahawks didn't have a great running attack this year and they should pick one of the RB in the first round. The best of the bunch is Jonathan Dwyer. He's a bruiser with speed, strength and good vision. |
| 15. |
New
York Giants |
Patrick Robinson - CB - Florida State
5-11,
194 pounds
|
| The Giants defense suprisingly had a lot of problems this year and they were often caused by poor coverage. Patrick Robinson is a great prospect and could be a great CB in the NFL. |
| 16. |
Tennessee
Titans |
Terrence Cody - DT - Oklahoma
6-5,
365 pounds
|
Cody could help replace another DT that was dominant while he was in Tennessee (remember big Albert?). He is a massive piece that will clog the middle up. Most analysts say that Cody is only interesting in running situations but he could develop into a three down lineman. |
| 17. |
San
Francisco 49ers (from Carolina)
|
Taylor Mays - S - USC
6-3,
230 pounds
|
| Mays is reminiscent of another Trojans safety now playing for Pittsburgh (Polamalu). He may not be as dominant, especially in coverage, but he is a ferocious hitter and an intimidating presence in the middle of the field. |
| 18. |
Pittsburgh
Steelers |
Selvish Capers - OT - West Virginia
6-5,
298 pounds
|
| The Steelers needed offensive line help last year but didn't address that need. Now, they have to go and get a good tackle to protect Big Ben, who's been hit more and more back there. Selvish Capers is a great athlete, big, fast and bright and he will help protect Big Ben blind side. |
| 19. |
Atlanta
Falcons
|
Perrish Cox - CB - Oklahoma State
6-0,
198 pounds
|
| The Falcons lack that dominant CB to cover the best receiver on opposing teams. Cox is a big CB that loves to bring the hammer but is also dependable in coverage. He has size and speed and good vision and could develop into that #1 corner for Atlanta. |
| 20. |
Houston
Texans
|
Arrelious Benn - WR - Illinois
6-2,
220 pounds
|
Andre Johnson is probably in the top 3 when talking about the best receivers in football. Problem is, he doesn't have a great compliment to balance the attack. Benn is a nice receiver who performed well even if the Fighting Illini had a bad year. He is big, fast but needs to bring more consistency to his game. |
| 21. |
Cincinnati
Bengals
|
Brian Price - DT - UCLA
6-2,
300 pounds
|
| Price probably made the right choice to declare for this draft. He had a great season at UCLA, notching 23,5 tackles for loss and adding seven sacks. He is a big guy with a motor that doesn't stop and he showed he can handle double team. He would open up space for other players on the Bengals D and clog up the middle of the line. |
| 22. |
New
England Patriots
|
C.J. Spiller - RB - Clemson
5-11,
195 pounds
|
The Pats attack was one dimensional almost all year and they need a good running back to help Tom Brady. Spiller is a rocket that is a threat to take it to the house each time he touches the ball. He can hurt you running the ball, catching it and returning punts. |
| 23. |
Green
Bay Packers
|
Ciron Black - OT - LSU
6-5,
322 pounds
|
| The Packers had problem keeping Aaron Rodgers upright the whole season. Sure, he may have held on to the ball too long on certain occasion, but his line didn't help him much. Black was considered a first round pick at the beginning of the year and I'm sure a big combine will get him back there. |
| 24. |
Philadelphia
Eagles
|
Brandon Spikes - ILB - Florida
6-3,
258 pounds
|
Spikes stock fell down a bit this year even though he had a good season. He unfortunately didn't stand out in a defense that was full of stars, got hurt and also suspended. He is still a natural leader and a great player and would bring a lot to Philly. |
| 25. |
Baltimore
Ravens
|
Golden Tate - WR - Notre-Dame
5-11,
195 pounds
|
Tate was the best player on the field, night in, night out for the Fighting Irish. He may be small but he plays much bigger. He also has a knack for big plays and is always around the action. He will give Joe Flacco a nice target to throw to. |
| 26. |
Arizona
Cardinals |
Jerry Hughes - DE - TCU
6-3,
257 pounds
|
| The Cards need to bring more pressure on the QB, as seen in their last game against the Saints where Drew Brees had all day to find his receivers. Hughes is a great prospect who was a force for TCU in the last two years. He is fast around the edge and has a lot of moves to get free to get pressure. |
| 27. |
Dallas Cowboys
|
Charles Brown - OT - USC
6-5,
295 pounds
|
As seen in the conference finals, the Cowboys just couldn't stop the Vikings pass rush. How can your offense play normally when your QB runs around like that! Charles Brown is a good tackle that will solidify the unit from the get go and help give time to Tony Romo. |
| 28. |
San
Diego Chargers
|
Sergio Kindle - LB - Texas
6-4,
255 pounds
|
| The Chargers had one of the best offense in the NFL last year so let's look at the defense for this first round pick. Shawne Merriman found his game in the final stretch but hasn't been the same dominant force since all his personnal troubles made surface. Kindle was the center piece of the Texas D and will be a great LB at the next level. His addition will bring speed and playmaking hability to a unit that is already strong. |
| 29. |
New
York Jets |
Brandon LaFell - WR - LSU
6-3,
206 pounds
|
| We can see that Edwards is a good receiver but he isn't that reliable. LaFell is a good receiver that will give another option to the Sanchize. He is big, great hands and runs great route. |
| 30. |
New
Orleans Saints
|
Corey Wootton - DE - Northwestern
6-7,
280 pounds
|
Charles Grant might not be back with the Saints next year and they need to find his replacement right away. Wooton is a physical specimen and even if he is that big, he still brings speed when he rushes from the end. He will be a problem for any tackle trying to defend him. |
| 31. |
Indianapolis
Colts |
Javier Arenas - CB - Alabama
5-9,
198 pounds
|
| The Colts were never afraid to draft small players that know how to play the game. Arenas is exactly that kind of player. At Alabama, he was a problem for every offense and he also brings returning skills to help Indy's special teams. |
| 32. |
Minnesota
Vikings |
Tim Tebow - QB - Florida
6-3,
245 pounds
|
| Brett Favre might play another year but he won't be here forever. Tim Tebow is probably the most intriguing prospect of the draft. He's probably the best leader of college football history. Imaging reuniting him with Percy Harvin and giving him Adrian Petterson and Sidney Rice. Scary! |
